Essential skills: English and MathsIf you achieve a grade 3 in GCSE Maths or English you will have to work towards re-sitting these subjects as part of your main study programme. At B&FC, this won't delay your career journey because you're working towards these subjects at the same time as your chosen subject. Industry placement, field trips and guest speakersThis course features a compulsory work placement (minimum 20 hours), with the opportunity to develop your skills in a realistic industry setting. You can also look forward to field trips to local animal institutions. How will I learn? We use a variety of learning and teaching methods, designed to emphasise the link between knowledge and application. These include lectures, demonstrations, practical investigations, seminars, workshops, tutorials, project work, supervised independent learning, open and resource-based learning, online learning and a work placement. Teaching is both tutor-led and student-led, with group work playing a part as well as individual learning to provide a well-rounded learning experience that caters for different learning styles. The course comprises a total of 400 timetabled hours and you will be expected to devote an additional 100 hours to online learning.
