Course Overview

This qualification is designed to increase knowledge and understanding of mental health and mental well-being. It focuses on the study of mental health and mental well-being to support different occupational areas. You will understand how to support mental well-being through various stages of life, mental ill health, treatment options available and the potential consequences of mental ill health, as well as the skills required to work in a mental health service.

Entry Requirements

You must be over 19 year of age on the 31st August before the course start date.

You must also have either have completed a Level 2 qualification in mental health or a related subject or have a minimum of 6 months experience working directly with individuals with mental health.

Teaching and Learning Methods

Your course will begin with you attending college for an induction session to meet the curriculum team.  The course will then be delivered remotely with live lectures and support sessions schedule for a total of 4.5 hours a week for 18 weeks (term time only). Within these sessions there will be tutor delivery, question and answer, discussion, group work tasks and individual tasks.  You will also attend College for 2 or 3 small group seminars within your scheduled delivery time over the duration of your course. All dates for college attendance will be provided at the start of your course.  

It is expected that you will complete a minimum of 3 hours independent study, each week, outside of the class to complete the assessment tasks which take the form of electronic workbooks.
