Summary

Take your computer skills to a higher level with the Entry Level 3 Functional Skills ICT course. You will discover how to use a computer safely as well as how to copy and format information using the internet and Microsoft Word.

You will also learn how to present information using Microsoft PowerPoint, format professional emails and letters, and use Microsoft Excel formulas to calculate data. During the first week you will undergo an Initial Assessment to make sure you are on the right course and therefore well placed to achieve your personal and professional goals.

Successful completion of this course will enable you to progress to the ICT Level 1 course and to other higher level courses, as well as to employment.

Entry Requirements

Anyone who is 19 or over can access this course.

And if you’re earning less than £16,000 a year or are unemployed and in receipt of benefits you can study for FREE.

You will undergo an Initial Assessment to identify your current ICT capabilities and also your individual learning goals, to ensure that you are well placed to pass the course.

You will need a notepad and pen.

In addition, it would be useful to have your own pen drive so that you could save your weekly progress, however this is not a necessity.

This is a part-time course of 3 hours per week, delivered over 15 weeks.

You will have the opportunity to access learning online, along with an excellent range of interactive resources.

Expert Tutors

All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.

With links to employability, this course will help you access worldwide information and help with seeking job opportunities. 

Assessment will be via task-based scenarios and the completion of activities and answers to specific questions.

There is one 2-hour assessment paper, with second chance attempts available for those who need them.
