Course Summary The Award in Education and Training is an ideal short course for anyone interested in training in the workplace and within a learning and development sector organisation. This course is a great introduction to the theoretical skills and practical knowledge required to enable you to plan and deliver education and training. This is a 12 week programme delivered in the evening over 3 hours per week. Entry Requirements This course is available to students aged 19 years and over. Ideally you should have a full level 3 qualification in the subject that you wish to teach in. The Programme Leader will review your prior qualifications and/or experience to ensure you have the potential to achieve the qualification. A level 2 qualification in English and mathematics and an intermediate level of ICT is recommended. Qualification Obtained BTEC Award in Education and Training Learning and Teaching Methods You will study the following modules: Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training presentation Understanding assessment in education and training Industry Placement and Field Trips This course has no work placements and no field trips. Delivery is by presentations, workshops, student participation and observations. The course is 3 hours a week over 12 weeks, delivered in the evening. You will also be expected to do independent study of a minimum of 2 hours a week. Expert Tutors All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice. You will study the following modules: Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training presentation Understanding assessment in education and training Industry Placement and Field Trips This course has no work placements and no field trips. Career Options and Progression This course is for those working in learning and development departments in organisations or independent training providers, local authorities and voluntary organisations. This course is not appropriate for those wanting to teach in primary schools. If you are interested in teaching in nursery education or primary schools please contact the Society, Health and Childhood Team. After completing this course you may be able to progress onto the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training. Progression is dependent on your training role and responsibilities and your level of qualifications. We can advise you on how you can progress further and which course is appropriate for you.
