Learning and teaching methods are an adaptation of practical demonstrations performed by the tutor, which are then put into practise by learners. Linked to each practical module are theory tasks, which will ensure you gain all the underpinning knowledge of these specialist subjects. Each module has a grading criterion set by the awarding body to illustrate grade outcome for each module.

These methods ensure a well-rounded education, combining practical skills with theoretical knowledge, preparing students for a successful career in beauty therapy.

How will I be assessed?

How will I be assessed?

Tutors will utilise different assessment methods which helps to receive a whole-student view, rather than defining a student by their performance in a single instance. Your knowledge and understanding in these units will be collected in a portfolio of evidence. Guidance for this will come from your assessor. Your assessor may also ask questions to confirm your knowledge and understanding. Your assessor will also observe your practical performance in one assessment.

Formative assessments will outline learners’ performances in line with the grading criteria set by the awarding body, students will receive constructive feedback to evaluate their skills and aim higher in readiness for summative assessments.

Summative assessments are awarded at either a Pass, Merit or Distinction for each unit. A Pass is worth 1 point, a Merit 2 points and a Distinction 3 points. Your unit points will be added together to work out your overall qualification grade.
