This part time course has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in providing hand and nail care. It is an excellent short course from which you will achieve a recognised VTCT qualification. You will learn the essential underpinning health and safety practices, underpinning client care skills and the underpinning theory to the manicure practical skills that you will learn throughout this qualification.
You will start to learn the practical manicure skills by practising on your peers and once your skills reach a competent level, you will then be required to complete a number of practical assessments on clients. You will also complete a series of theory assessments to confirm your understanding of the underpinning theory elements to your course.
The completion of this course is an essential prior to enrolling on the Nail Technology programme.
Previous experience isn’t needed but you will need to have an enthusiasm for the beauty therapy and nails industries..
Modules and Assessment
Teaching and Learning Methods
We use a variety of teaching methods to support you to develop high-level skills, with practical sessions being delivered in our specialised nails room.
You will complete at least 3 class-based hours a week and we expect you to devote an additional 3 hours a week to independent study.
At the start of the course, you will practise your manicure skills on your fellow students; as your skills and confidence develop, you will then be able to complete your practical assessments on paying clients.

The approval process ensures that staff delivering and/or assessing a given programme are appropriately qualified, with relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
