Course Overview

This qualification will develop the knowledge and skills needed when working in a lead adult care worker role in care settings. It will provide you with in-depth knowledge and skills in areas such as supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care, daily living needs and health and social care procedures. 

Entry Requirements

You must be over 19 year of age on the 31st August before the course start date.

You will need to be in a placement, which relates to adult care for a minimum of 6 hours a week (this can be working or volunteering).

You must have achieved a Level 2 qualification, which relates to adult care or have a minimum of 6 months volunteering or working in the care sector.

Teaching and Learning Methods

This course will be delivered remotely with live lectures and support sessions scheduled for a total of 4.5 hours a week for 20 weeks (term time only) from the course start date.  Within these sessions there will be tutor delivery, question and answer, discussion, group work tasks and individual tasks. The tutor will also be available for weekly support and to guide you from the beginning to the completion of your qualification.

It is expected that you will complete a minimum of 3 hours independent study each week, to complete the assessment tasks which take the form of electronic workbooks.

You will also be assigned a college assessor, to assist in completion of the observations and discussions that take place within your placement setting. 

You will also have the opportunity to attend additional seminars throughout the course.  One of these will be with your assessor and will support you with your study and assessments, providing opportunity for extended study and degree preparation.
