Course Overview

This course provides the skills, knowledge and experience to become an engineering officer in the Merchant Navy, or to pursue various maritime/engineering opportunities, at sea and ashore. It offers an exciting opportunity to train towards a rewarding career while travelling the world and earning a tax-free salary. The course is delivered during the first of five phases that constitute a three-year cadet training programme at one of the UK’s top nautical institutions, Fleetwood Nautical Campus. Entry Requirements

To be considered eligible for this course, you will need 4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or higher, including Maths and English (or equivalent).

Teaching and Learning Methods

This course is delivered using several methods. You will develop theoretical knowledge, brought to life through practical hands-on skills training and linked to industry through simulation. Finally, you will consolidate your skills and knowledge with a period of work-based learning spent on board one or more Merchant Navy vessels.
