Advance Your Motor Skills in Vehicle Accident Repair and Panel Alignment
This IMI course is designed for experienced vehicle technicians working in accident repair who want to prove their skills at the highest industry level. If your role involves vehicle repair and maintenance after accidents, this automotive training course helps you stay recognised, confident and compliant.
The IMI Accreditation is for technicians with at least three years’ experience in the automotive industry. It checks your motor skills and mechanical knowledge, and shows you can carry out safe mechanical repairs on damaged vehicles including bodyshell repairs and the correction of alignment issues.

Entry requirements
The IMI Accreditation Panel route is intended for technicians whose job role involves the repair of vehicles typically involved in accidents working within a BSI-accredited accident repair centre. Candidates must present a current Assessed Outcome Module Certificate for AOM 009 to the centre when registering for this Accreditation.

Extra equipment needed and costs
You should bring footwear suitable for an automotive practical workshop environment. All other equipment/resources you require for this course are provided by B&FC at no extra cost.

What You'll Learn
The IMI accreditation process for Senior Panel will confirm your ability to:
- Repair and replace vehicle body parts
- Return vehicle alignment to manufacturer specification
- Correct bodyshell and structural faults
- Work safely and professionally to BS10125 requirements and BSI standards
This accreditation includes the AOM030 welded panel section. This covers MAG, MIG, braze, bond and rivet techniques, all of which are used in modern automotive engineering and automotive technology roles.
How You'll Learn
This is an assessment rather than a training course and is the chance to demonstrate your existing skills. You will, however, have the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the equipment and prepare for the practical tasks before you are observed doing them.
