Course Overview

This is a 12-month level 4 qualification intended for post-16 learners who want to continue their education through applied learning, aiming to progress to higher education and ultimately employment. It provides a thorough introduction to the engineering sector.

This qualification provides learning with the skills and knowledge needed for engineering manufacturing including:

- the ability to organise work

- how to identify and solve problems

The qualification will feature the updated Higher Apprenticeship for Engineering. The achievement of an NVQ will encourage the student/employee to value their contribution to the workplace and develop their skills and potential within the engineering manufacturing field.

This course is for 16+ learners keen to continue education through applied learning.

Teaching and Learning Methods

NVQs are based on National Occupations Standards (NOS), which the learner must meet to be competent in any given task.

Delivery will be blended between online, tutor-led and group learning. The course will be 50% theory and 50% practical.

B&FC has developed an in-house approach to teaching, learning and assessment that reflects the occupational nature of the qualification and caters for the diverse needs of the student profile. It exploits the full range of suitable digital technologies for teaching.
