Course Summary Course Summary This course will provide an introduction to the history and basic concepts of nuclear power generation. You will learn about the safety aspects of nuclear power plants, including the historic developments in safety design philosophy, influence on subsystems and lessons learned from previous accidents. You will gain experience of practical nuclear power plant operational exercises including simulation of accident scenarios using our new and unique £500k PWR nuclear simulator facility. The course will be delivered at our new £10.7M Lancashire Energy HQ, which was developed with industry to provide bespoke equipment and facilities needed to provide the skills required for a sustainable and rewarding career in the energy sector. Entry Requirements This course is designed for anyone working within nuclear or other energy sectors who would benefit from an understanding of nuclear power generation. No prior qualifications required, although attendance on the 1 - day simulation course is desirable. Please note: Where wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is a mandatory requirement of the course, it is the responsibility of the learner to ensure that they are able to wear such equipment.
