Develop motor vehicle maintenance and repair skills for pleasure or to begin a new career with this 18-week level 2 course. Based in our Advanced Technology Centre with access to cutting edge technology and equipment, you will develop the expertise needed to carry out vehicle maintenance and repairs, to industry standards. The course is for those aged 19 or over and covers all aspects of light vehicle maintenance with a focus on engine units, components and systems, and health and safety. It provides an IMI industry-recognised qualification to prepare you for related employment and/or further study at level 3.
You must be 19 or over with a keen interest in motor vehicle repair.
English and maths skills at level 1 or above would also be an advantage.
Modules and Assessment
Teaching and Learning Methods
Each week you will undertake 3 hours’ class-based sessions, 6 hours’ practical sessions and 45 minutes of progress meetings.
Class-based sessions allow you to develop specific subject knowledge, compile documented evidence and plan for practical tasks in our Advanced Technology Centre workshops.
There is also some independent study, which will involve making use of e-learning technologies to help develop your knowledge further.

All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
