This Intermediate Digital Photography course is ideal for anyone who has completed the Digital Photography Beginners course at B&FC and wants to extend their skills. It’s also perfect for individuals who already have a basic grasp of digital photography who are looking to gain a more thorough knowledge of the medium.
You will learn more about using a digital camera in different settings, changing your camera’s configuration to ensure you are using its technical capacity to best effect. From adapting your settings to create different photographic effects to exploring different types of photography from macro to product, fashion to reportage, you will start to grasp the incredible scope of what a digital camera is capable of in the right hands.
As well as capturing images the course will explore more aspects of post-production and digital image manipulation primarily using Adobe Photoshop softwar

There are no formal entry requirements to enrol on this course apart from being 19 or over. All we ask is that you come with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

There is no funding available for this course irrespective of personal circumstances. All students must pay the course fee stated above at the time of booking their space on this programme.
Extra costs and equipment
All basic equipment and materials for the course will be provided by the college, but we encourage students to bring in their own digital camera if they have one so they can learn how to use it effectively.
What will I learn?
You will explore different types of digital photography, learning how to set up and shoot in different scenarios both in the studio and outside. You will also learn about the various lenses available such as fisheye and macro and how to set up studio lighting to achieve a variety of visual effects depending on the style and mood you are trying to create.
In addition to the technical camera skills you will acquire, you will be encourage to explore your creativity and to develop a photographic style. You will consider photographic composition and creative techniques like how to use light, play with depth of field, adjust exposure and use filters.
You will also look at the post-production process, using digital software, correcting colour and exposure imbalances, processing raw files, sharpening and noise reduction as well as refining your critical skills to help you select the best image(s) from a shoo

How will I learn?
The course is delivered one evening a week over 10 weeks and takes place in our well-equipped photographic studios where you will find a range of equipment that will allow you to explore different media.
Practical in nature, you will learn primarily through observation, demonstration, group work and practical projects all under the expert eye of tutors who have years of experience working in and teaching photography. You will also be encouraged to share ideas, skills and opinions with your fellow classmates to generate a creative environment in which you all can flourish.
