Build Up Programme with CSCS Green Labourer Card
Summary
The Build Up Programme is a comprehensive 4-week course designed specifically for adults who want to enter the construction industry or develop their practical trade skills. Delivered over 3 days per week, this course offers hands-on training in essential construction trades.
Throughout the course, you will learn introductory skills in the following trades:
- Drylining
- Plastering
- Flooring
- Tiling
- Groundwork
- Trowel/Bricklaying
- Fencing
- Handling & Storing Materials
Additionally, you will gain a Level 1 Award in Health & Safety in a Construction Environment (Ascentis), ensuring you understand key safety protocols necessary on construction sites.
At the end of the programme, you will be entered for the CITB Operatives Test. If you pass the test, we will claim a free CSCS Green Labourer Card for you, enabling you to work on construction sites.

How will I learn?

How will I be assessed?
Health & Safety:
Internally assessed through the learner building up a portfolio of evidence that covers the relevant assessment criteria. It is internally assessed and verified by the centre and then externally verified by Ascentis.
CITB Test for the Green Labourer Card:
The CITB test consists of fifty questions out of a bank of around eight hundred and you will need forty-five correct to pass. There are apps available to download on smartphones if you want to have additional practice (you would be looking for the CITB, general operatives test). There are free apps available, but we would recommend the paid CITB app at a cost of £6.99 as this tailors the questions you are given based on your answers.
