Course SummaryWith plans to phase out new petrol and diesel cars in the UK by 2030, the demand for EV charging points is bound to soar in the next few years so now’s the time to upskill and add this competency to your portfolio. Suitable for qualified electricians, this installation training course equips you with the skills and knowledge to fit charging points in domestic and small commercial settings. From a technical perspective, the qualification also covers additional methods of protecting against open PEN conductor faults and how to assess if an installation has an issue with diverted neutral current. It includes smart functions in EVSE and relevant items within the installation as a whole. Integration into prosumer’s electrical installations including the option of electric vehicles reverse feeding into the installation and/or supply grid is also covered. Certificates issued on successful completion of the course are normally valid for 5 years before needing to be renewed. Entry RequirementsThis course is intended for practicing electricians as part of the assessment for this qualification, learners must hold one of the following: • 2357 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment) • 2357 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance) • 5357 Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification • 2356 Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker • 2346 Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification • Other Awarding Organisations equivalences will also be acceptable • Equivalent historical qualifications (see EAS Table 4B/4C) EAS Qualifications guide December 2020 (theiet.org) or • ECS Gold Card, JIB Electrician or Approved Electrician Card Qualification ObtainedAward in the Design and Installation of Domestic and Small Commercial Electric Vehicle Charging Installations Industry Placement and Field TripsWork placements and field trips are not an integral part of this course.
