Course SummaryThe Cert HE in Mental Health and Resilience is a level 4 qualification which is aimed specifically at those individuals who wish to work in non-medical mental health settings and is ideal if you have followed a non-traditional route or have experience within the mental health sector. These include such areas as pastoral roles within primary and secondary education, community mental health and third sector support networks. The Cert HE in Mental Health and Resilience is therefore designed to widen your employment opportunities and develop your personal, professional and academic confidence. It further provides an option in gaining the knowledge required to work in a variety of roles within the mental health sector in entry-level careers as identified above. As well as transitioning directly into work, you may also progress onto our Foundation Degree in Mental Health and Resilience followed by the final one-year top-up programme in Mental Health and Resilience to gain an honours degree and further enhance your career prospects. Entry RequirementsFor a successful offer onto this programme of study you will require a GCSE English at grade 4 or C or functional skills at level 2. In addition, it is desirable that you have one of the following. We would also consider applicants who can evidence their capability to write to this standard if they do not possess these qualifications. BTEC Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care or related subject (Pass, Pass, Pass) Certificate in Mental Health (Pass) T Level Health (P, P, P) A levels D, D, D (72 UCAS points) Access to HE in Health, Nursing or Social Science (Pass) You may also be considered If you are a non-standard student, who has not followed the traditional routes to higher education and will consider applications on a case-by-case basis. Additional Requirements: Confirmed employment or work experience within the Mental Health Sector A current DBS may be required depending on the role or sector you are employed in. Initial advice and guidance will include a professional discussion with the delivery team and will include job progression and career aspirations, to ensure that the enrolment is correct for individual student circumstances. Qualification ObtainedMental Health and Resilience - Certificate of Higher Education Industry Placement and Field TripsThe Cert HE does not have a mandatory placement, however there is an expectation that you would either be currently employed within the mental health sector or secure voluntary work experience within this sector. Should you wish to progress onto the FdA in Mental Health and Resilience there would also be a requirement to either work within the Mental Health sector and or secure work experience of a minimum of 4 hours a week. Learning and Teaching MethodsTo enable your transition to your new programme of study, you will benefit from a wide range of support, for example pre-course support to build your confidence. A range of student-centred teaching and learning approaches will support your academic development including lectures, which will be scaffolded and deliver the indicative content of the session, supported by teacher led student centred activities to apply theory to practice. Directed seminars will allow you to engage and develop your confidence, with guest speakers and industry representation from the sector, allowing you to consolidate and develop your learning. The mixture of practical and written methods of assessing your progress on the course will offer you the opportunity to develop skills essential to practice and build your confidence in working within the sector.
