Summary

This course provides all the information you need to make a successful sandwich.

You will be guided through the various choice of bread and fillings with optional modules which will look at the addition of chutneys, sauces and dressings.

You will also examine how the use of various spreads impacts the longevity and eatability of the sandwich as well as looking at its history throughout England and the whole of Europe from the conceptual moment when the Earl of Sandwich asked for a manageable snack to enable him to stay at the gaming table playing cards.

What will I learn?

What will I learn?

The course will cover all the key components of sandwich-making.

You will learn how to make a variety of breads including rolls, plaits and loaves.

Essential skills: English and Maths

Mathematics and English Language GCSE at grade C/4 or above.

Industry placement, field trips and guest speakers

Trips to an artisan bakery and a sandwich production line are organised every year.

How will I learn?

You will undertaking your theory training in our well-equipped classrooms before moving to our training kitchens to hone your practical skills. All practical sessions will take place under the watchful eye of our industry-expert sandwich tutor, who will provide ongoing feedback on your choice of ingredients and techniques
