Building on the vital industry preparation of the HNC Music Technology, our HND Music Production course builds further skills necessary for more advanced roles within the industry. Develop your confidence, skills and industry focus as you progress through the HND, expanding your horizons and developing your professional identity.
Building on your core skills from L4, you'll build your knowledge on multiple facets of the music industry, where you'll develop higher level skills and hone the technological production skills to enable you to reach your goals.
Expand your critical listening ability and delve into preparing a recording for a release. Learn how to edit pitch, timing and routing capabilities that brings a track to a professional standard. Developing further hands-on experience in studio environments, mastering the tools and techniques crucial for audio production in our state-of-the-art Audient equipped Recording Studio.
Deep dive into forms of synthesis such as FM synthesis, Additive synthesis, Granular synthesis, physical modeling synthesis and more. Creating original synth patches using a range of analog and digital synthesizers giving opportunities to experiment with different techniques and sounds.
Become well versed in the operation and manipulation of audio using a digital mixing console, routing techniques, microphone techniques and digital technologies to reinforce sound in various scenarios. Our programme will facilitate the growth of your skills demanded by the music industry.
Sound Design for Interactive Media encapsulates a diverse insight into the sonic elements of TV, Games and Film. Explore the compositional techniques that sound designers use to create a captivating and immersive experience for the audience. Experience field and foley recordings, capturing bespoke sound effects and developing soundscapes that enhance the ambience and environment of visual imagery.

Entry Requirements
Successful completion of HNC in Music Technology is a pre-requisite of entry onto the programme.
You may be considered as an applicant if you have completed the first year of a Music degree elsewhere, but this will be at the discretion of the course tutors.

What will I learn?
Industry placement, field trips and guest speakers
In addition to the expertise of the curriculum team, experts from industry will be used to present a lecture/seminar, a workshop or to contribute to assessment brief scenarios. Blackpool and the Fylde’s vibrant events and music scene provides great opportunities to schedule field trips which have direct relevance to the syllabus and which would add value to the learning experience.
Through these trips students could relate theory to practice, have an opportunity to experience organisations in action, and potentially open their minds to career routes.

How will I learn?
Scheduled Learning
Scheduled time relates to the time you spend in directed study with the guidance and support of our academic tutors. Scheduled learning can take a variety of forms and will vary from one course to the next, but may include lectures, seminars, tutorials, project supervision, demonstrations, studio or workshop time, fieldwork and external visits.
Independent Study
Higher education courses rely on students undertaking work outside of formal, scheduled sessions and this is generally categorised as independent study. Independent study might include preparation for scheduled sessions, follow-up work, wider reading or practice, completion of assessment tasks and revision.
Placement
