Why choose Blackpool's University Centre?

Degrees awarded by a UK top 10 university

The majority of our degree programmes are awarded by Lancaster University (University of the Year 20181 ) but studied here in Blackpool. That means you get to graduate with a UK top 10 university degree 2.

Foundation Degree Awarding Powers

A small but growing number of our Foundation Degree programmes are awarded by us directly, owing to B&FC being granted Foundation Degree Awarding Powers in January 2016. We are one of just six Further Education colleges in England to be granted these powers.

TEF Gold (the highest government standard)

Our degree-level education has been awarded the highest “gold” rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). This demonstrates that we deliver consistently outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for students. We are one of just 16 Further Education colleges in the country to be awarded TEF Gold.

Commendations from the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA)

At our last QAA review, in 2013, we were judged as fully meeting UK academic standards, with two areas of commendation (the highest accolade possible) and 11 areas of identified good practice.

Excellent partnership work with employers

Our partnership work with industry allows us to enhance students’ employability while serving the skills needs of employers. In 2016 we were awarded the prestigious Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education Excellence.

A range of study routes

We offer a variety of study programmes which are flexible enough to suit individual circumstances. They include full and part-time options, with many programmes condensed into 1 or 2 full day’s study, to fit around work and other commitments.

Higher and degree apprenticeships

Industry specialist tutors

Our tutors are all highly qualified and experts in their chosen field, who have a combination of industry experience and academic subject knowledge, which is continuously enhanced and maintained.

Our classes normally number between 15 and 20, which allows you to experience highly personalised learning with many opportunities for 1-2-1 support.

Affordability

We offer competitive tuition fees, an Advantage Bursary of up to £500 and a £1,000 annual Access Scholarship for care leavers/young carers.4
