Jeannette Giles

Assessor

Jeannette Giles

Biography

My career in education started upon completion of the NVQ Level 3 Childcare and Education and the D32 Assessors Award, when I took up a full-time position as Early Years Assessor within Society, Health and Childhood at B&FC.

I then went on to complete my D34 Internal Verification qualification, which enabled me to become a qualified, experienced and competent assessor, drawing on more than 22 years’ practical experience from across a wide range of childcare sectors.

Completion of my NVQ Level 4 in Management and Level 6 Certificate in Management meant I was able to extend the scope of my role, supporting students to achieve the Level 4 and Level 5 Management and Leadership qualifications

More recently, I completed my PGCE and took up a full-time position as a senior assessor, supporting and mentoring other assessors, IQA work and liaising with management.

Industry Background

My professional career started over 22 years when I applied for a part-time job in a children’s day nursery.

Eventually, I opened my own playgroup and pre-school, which I managed for 10 years. During this time I also managed holiday clubs and out-of-school clubs, and worked with children with additional needs, disabilities, learning difficulties and autism.

My career has also brought me into contact with other childcare professionals (teachers, health visitors, speech therapists, child psychologists, early years consultants) and OFSTED.

Professional Activities

I assess a range of students from levels 2-5, supporting them on a one-to-one basis and in group settings. I also support other B&FC assessors.

Why B&FC?

B&FC puts students at the heart of teaching and learning and I am part of a team of dedicated professionals, with a range of knowledge, skills and experiences.
