Curriculum Manager - Society Health and Childhood
While working as a manager within the hospitality industry, Debbie developed a range of management and marketing skills, which supported her transition into education and teaching.
Initially, Debbie taught management and marketing within both further and higher education, across numerous sectors and industries. A change in job roles and responsibilities however allowed her to further develop her knowledge and understanding of teaching and management, supported by a Master’s in Business Administration. Her passion lies in supporting career aspirations and developing students and trainee teachers to make the transition from College to meaningful employment.
Debbie’s passion, knowledge and experience in teaching management, marketing and initial teacher education (ITE) never diminishes. Each year, with great pride, she attends the College’s graduation ceremony to support her students as they qualify for the degree they have worked hard to achieve. For her, this is the best job in the world.

I was employed in the hospitality industry prior to working in education and this allowed me to develop all-round business knowledge with a particular focus on management and marketing. Teaching for the last 25 years has supported my development and knowledge of education and pedagogies to bring about positive learning experiences.
As Curriculum Manager I not only teach but also manage the staff team and design the curriculum offer. A priority for me is ensuring we offer a broad range of sector-relevant part-time courses. To this end, as part of my professional development, I keep abreast of local employer needs and trends.
I am proud of the range and breath of educational opportunities available at B&FC, which support individuals to study and develop their skills and knowledge. Education leads to real possibilities in employment while supporting career aspirations and economic prosperity. Education can be life changing and to be a part of this is a real privilege.
