Darren Peake


Darren Peake is the Programme Leader for Trowel Occupations in the School of Construction at Blackpool and the Fylde College. Darren has 5 years’ experience in the Further Education Sector as a Specialist Practitioner, Lecturer and Programme Leader.

Renowned for having excellent communication skills with his learners, he currently teaches within the Painting and Decorating Department and oversees the development as Programme Leader in Trowel Occupations working alongside Shareholders to help ensure that learners are given the best opportunity to be successful in their chosen career path.

Darren is supportive, efficient, and very approachable with a great passion for teaching and learning. Strengths include, time management, delivering of curriculum courses, planning and has an abundance of experience working with School Links, Educational Needs, Further Education and Adult Learners.

Darren is an experienced high-class painter and decorator who specialises in all areas including Wall Coverings, Paint Systems and Specialist Paint Finishes.

Industry Background

Darren started his working career as Graphic Designer and became a Studio Manager for a commercial printing firm for numerous years.

After a change in career Darren trained to become a Professional Painter and Decorator here at Blackpool & The Fylde College.

Darren successfully won awards consecutively for most outstanding student of the year and eventually gaining a Distinction on the Advanced Craft Award City & Guilds.

Darren has worked along side many contractors within the Painting and Decorating Industry working on a variety of domestic and commercial projects throughout the years building professional relationships.

Professional Activities

Professional activities include building close relationships with shareholders and engaging in expert tutor and career events to help stay at the forefront and up to date with the relevant needs within the industry.

Darren is currently completing an IQA qualification.
