Welcome to Teaching & Learning Support at B&FC

On our Learning Support courses, you will not only study how to facilitate a child's learning, but also be taught about wider issues such as safeguarding and classroom management.

The quality of our provision is reflected in the professional accreditation we have achieved and the facilities we invest in to ensure our students work with industry-standard equipment. Opportunities are vast and with the right skills, students can expect to achieve higher-than-average salaries and quick progression to senior roles.

Affording your course

We know that people are concerned about the costs associated with studying for a degree and also if having a degree will be worth it once they graduate. Here are just a few things to think about before you make a final decision.

  • There really is nothing to pay up front. You can get a tuition fee loan and repayments don't kick in until after you graduate and are earning at least £25K.
  • Even when you're earning £30,000,  the repayments are only £37.50 per month.
  • You can get help towards living and childcare costs.
  • Graduates, on average, earn approximately £10K more than their non-graduate counterparts. That's around £600 extra per month.
What our students say

"I think people forget that we have got very good facilities in this area.

If you find something that you like to do, and you like it more than what you're doing now, change. Never too late. "

- Phillip

"I'm actually better off doing my degree than I was doing a part-time job. If I'd realised how much financial support was available, I wouldn't have put off doing a degree for so long. I'm absolutely loving it and my job prospects are already so much better."

What we offer...

Student case study - Lorraine

Why did you decide to study this qualification?
Initially, I went back to College just to do an evening course to be a teaching assistant but the tutors are very persuasive and here I am three years later having completed my degree.

Why did you choose B&FC?
It's local and my family have strong links here. My brother graduated in 2019 and my dad worked here. I just wouldn't have chosen anywhere else.

What have been the benefits of studying here?
The tutors make it really relevant and interesting as they know their subjects inside and out. The tutors really made it for me.

What are you hoping to do in the future?
From September, I'll be in primary school training to teach. I'm really excited as I've missed being in school.
