Construction Apprenticeships

Construction apprenticeships offer hands-on experience and expert mentorship, laying the foundations for a rewarding career in the construction industry. For employers, it's the chance to craft a skilled workforce. For apprentices, it's an opportunity to build skills, confidence and a future from the ground up.

Building a future in the construction industry

B&FC offers a diverse and comprehensive range of construction apprenticeships, designed to equip apprentices with the hands-on experience, technical skills and industry knowledge needed for successful careers in the built environment.

At an intermediate level, apprentices can develop foundational skills in key trades. These programmes are ideal for individuals starting out in the industry, providing practical learning alongside classroom support to ensure a strong, work-ready foundation.

Advanced apprenticeships at B&FC delve deeper into craft specialisms and technical disciplines. These programmes allow learners to develop expertise, problem-solving abilities, and leadership potential, preparing them for senior roles or further progression.

With strong links to industry, B&FC apprentices benefit from working with experienced professionals in real-life settings while receiving tailored support from the College. So whether you're looking to build your career or your workforce, B&FC’s construction apprenticeships provide the skills, support and opportunities to thrive.

Career opportunities

Completing a construction apprenticeship opens the door to a wide range of career progression opportunities. Apprentices gain valuable hands-on experience, industry-recognised qualifications, and the practical skills employers are looking for. After completing an intermediate or advanced apprenticeship, many move into full-time skilled roles such as bricklayer, electrician, joiner or plumber.

With experience, apprentices can progress to supervisory or management positions, such as site supervisor, project manager or construction manager. Others choose to specialise further or become self-employed, running their own businesses. Many also continue their professional development through higher-level qualifications, including HNCs, HNDs, or even degree apprenticeships in construction management or building services.

An apprenticeship is more than just a job—it’s a long-term investment in a successful career. By starting with solid, real-world training, apprentices build the confidence, knowledge, and industry connections to grow and thrive in a dynamic and essential sector.
