My Story

In my old job, I felt like there was no room to progress and I would be stuck doing the same thing for years.

I'd always been interested in coding so in November 2019 I decided to start an online web development course, I loved it and decided that a career in development was for me.

I was determined to make a next step into a career in development but knew I wasn't ready for an entry level job yet. I wanted to get a professional qualification but full-time education wasn't an option for me, so a Degree Apprenticeship seemed like the perfect option.

I haven't looked back since.

My B&FC

The amount of support I've got within my job role has really surprised me.

I think there's a common misconception about apprenticeships that they're mainly used by employers who just want someone to do the same work for less money, when in my experience my employer has been most focused on developing my skills which has been great.

I appreciate that B&FC has a focus on career skills, and makes sure that you are job ready before leaving.

My Opportunities

I really enjoy having my own projects to manage at work, which brings a lot of job satisfaction. I feel like I'm learning twice as much as I did when I got my degree. The ability to learn on the job while still getting the academic benefits of the course really adds value.
