Affording your Course
We know that people are concerned about the costs associated with studying for a degree and also if having a degree will be worth it once they graduate. Here are just a few things to think about before you make a final decision.
- There really is nothing to pay up front if you are a UK resident and haven't previously completed an equivalent degree-level qualification
- You can get a tuition fee loan to cover course fees and repayments don't kick in until after you graduate and are earning at least £25K
- Even when you're earning £30,000, the repayments are only £37.50 per month - about the same cost as an average takeaway for two
- Eligible students can also get help towards living and childcare costs and there are other bursaries and grants you can apply for
- What's more, according to a recent report. graduates, on average, earn approximately £5K more than their non-graduate counterparts. That's around £300 extra per month
"I'm actually better off doing my degree than I was doing a part-time job. If I'd realised how much financial support was available, I wouldn't have put off doing a degree for so long. I'm absolutely loving it and my job prospects are already so much better."
- Yvonne, Degree-level Student
"The tutors made it for all of us because they really pushed us to better than we thought we could be. I’m so proud of myself."
- Stephanie
Student Case Study - Kerrie & Tashi
We are Kerrie and Tashi, we met in Blackpool doing the Musical Theatre BA(hons) course back in 2009, and loved our three years studying there. The course felt incredibly personal, with an experienced teaching team that took time to understand each student's unique strengths. We always felt nurtured in the program but also challenged to take creative risks and grow as performers. It gave us a really solid understanding of the industry!
