Online interviews and auditions: getting prepared

As part of your application process you may be invited to attend an online interview or audition.

Fear not - this is your chance to get to know us, and our chance to make sure that the course for which you applied is the one matching your ambitions.

We've put together some hints and tips on preparing for this session - and making the most of it.

Test your tech

Get your tech right in advance of your interview or audition. You'll get information in advance on what's expected so you can get everything ready.

We recommend having a dry run. Set up your device, make sure any applications are working as you like them, have a practice with someone in your household and make sure you've got a microphone and, if requested, webcam, set up and working properly.

Prepare a list of questions

Your online interview or audition is your chance to ask any questions about the college, and your course or future career.

Need information about fees and finance? We can direct you to the right resources to find out more.

Get ready to talk about you

Tutors want to make sure the course for which you applied matches your career goals and personal ambitions.

That's so we can advise on how the course can get you there.

As part of the session we'll be asking you about your interest in the subject. Have a think about your experience related to that topic, and why you're keen to learn more about it.

Do your research

Now's the best time to start acquainting yourself with what you'll do with what you'll learn on the course.

Take a look at the national careers service website.

Browse all the courses on our website. Where the course directly leads to a career, we'll give you that information. Or you might find next steps beyond this course, and how they will help you get into the career you want.

Prepare and send additional materials ahead of time

If you're applying to study at Blackpool School of Arts, you might need to send a video or audio file.

Make sure you get everything together as far ahead as you can - so you can focus on getting ready for the interview or audition itself.
