“If you know you want to be in construction in some way or form, this is the best course. I couldn’t even list all the job opportunities. That’s the great advantage T levels have.”

One of the many benefits of studying for a T level in Design, Surveying and Planning was that it helped to cement Jamie’s future plans.”

“I was quite unsure about what I wanted to do as a career before starting my T Level but it enabled me to see different options for what was possible and what the different jobs were.””

Jamie finally settled on pursuing an architecture degree with the aim of becoming an architect and was able to secure a place at Liverpool John Moores University which he started after taking a gap year to enjoy a break from his studies.”

Jamie also really enjoyed the work placement aspect of his course, having secured a place at Blackpool-based structural engineers, Hermolle Associates.”

“It was real, hands-on experience and it gave me insights into different parts of the industry that I wouldn’t have even seen if I was just learning in a classroom. You learn so much about what goes on day to day in the construction industry.””

Ask whether he would recommend a T level to other young people who were considering their next step in education, Jamie’s advice was simple – “Definitely do it.”
