Meet Freya – T Level Adult Nursing student

Freya, who originally attended Millfield High School, was delighted to learn that she had achieved a Distinction in her Adult Nursing T Level at B&FC, a result that has secured her place to study Midwifery at the University of Cumbria.

Freya chose a T Level over A Levels because of the blend of practical and academic elements it offered and absolutely loved her work placement which she spent working across various departments at Blackpool’s NHS Teaching.

Initially based in the Acute Medical Unit, which Freya described as being one step down from the intensity of A&E, she then moved onto Haematology, which was definitely calmer but equally enjoyable. She also got the chance to work briefly with the Maternity Team, a fantastic opportunity for anyone who is as passionate about midwifery as Freya is.

“My baby sister was born by emergency C-section and that sparked an interest in becoming a midwife which has just grown and grown. Doing the T Level and having the opportunity to do an extended industry placement has really made me 100% confident that I’ve chosen is the right career path – I can’t think of anything better than bring new life into the world.”

Asked what she would say to someone considering T Levels, Freya’s advice was simple: “Work hard and don’t let anyone convince you you can’t do it, because you can.”
