“I learnt a lot from the professionals in the industry and that really helped me in my final year exam as I knew how to apply the knowledge I’d gained in the classroom to practical situations.”

When T level Digital Production, Development and Design student Ameerah first started to think about what she would like to do after her GCSEs, she admitted that T Levels weren’t initially on her radar. But having researched them she quickly realised they offered opportunities other qualifications didn’t – like an extended work placement.

Ameerah did her placement at DWP Digital which proved to be a great choice:

“I learnt a lot from the professionals in the industry and that really helped me in my final year exam as I knew how to apply the knowledge I’d gained in the classroom to practical situations.”

It was clear that Ameerah had really enjoyed her time at college too. She said that all her tutors were super friendly and very approachable. And, if she was ever struggling to understand any aspect of her course there was always someone there who she could ask for her help. The catering facilities on campus also came in for praise from Ameerah who said that the student lunches were a highlight of her time away from the course.

Having achieved a distinction, Ameerah is now planning to start her degree apprenticeship at DWP Digital which came about as a direct result of her T level placement. After that, she hopes to build a career in software engineering.
