Meet Aimee – T Level Business Management student

Aimee, who previously studied A Levels before deciding to change direction, was delighted to achieve a Merit in her Business Management T Level at B&FC.

After finding A Levels too heavily focused on exams, Aimee chose a T Level because it offered a combination of exams, coursework and practical workplace experience. She particularly enjoyed the industry placement element, which helped her develop valuable skills and confidence.

Aimee completed her placement with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), where she worked across the Digital Capability Team, gaining experience in HR, recruitment and learning and development.

“The placement was incredible,” said Aimee. “I got to do real work that had a genuine impact on the organisation. The staff were amazing and really helped prepare me for employment. Working in such a large organisation gave me a great insight into the career I wanted to pursue.”

The experience confirmed Aimee’s ambition to build a career in learning and development and helped her secure her current role with B&M where she has been employed as a Learning and Development Administrator. Not wanting to leave education completely, she is also returning to B&FC in September to start a Level 5 CIPD qualification one day a week.

“I’d love to work in learning and development for a Formula One team,” she said. “I love Formula One and I love helping people learn and develop, so being able to combine the two would be amazing.”

Asked what advice she would give to someone considering a T Level, Aimee said: “Definitely choose a T Level. Whether you want to go to university or straight into work, it prepares you for both and gives you the skills and experience employers are looking for.”
