National Apprenticeship Week 2025: First Class Future for Mohammed Rafiq Published on 03/02/2025 by ECOOK General news Higher and degree apprenticeships Mohammed is undertaking a Level 6 Project Management Apprenticeship with Royal Mail and describes his journey so far as ‘incredible’. The apprenticeship programme, delivered in partnership with Blackpool and The Fylde College, is designed to equip apprentices with the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to resource and manage large-scale operations in companies both big and small. For Mohammed, it has been a game changer.“This is my first corporate role and it has served as a real eye opener, allowing me to see what really goes on in a large business. It’s been great that I’ve been included in real-life projects and, although it’s been a bit of a baptism of fire, the experience I have gained is proving invaluable. The main highlight for me has been my involvement in several multi-million-pound projects.”Whilst Mohammed has found parts of his experience challenging, the rewards have made it all worthwhile. “I’ve already picked up or improved so many skills during my time here. For example, my professional writing skills have improved significantly as a result of drafting various documents and emails and also working through my academic work at Blackpool and The Fylde College.”Mohammed is looking forward to continuing his trajectory of personal and professional development and is already eyeing up potential future opportunities within the organisation. When asked whether he would recommend an apprenticeship to others, “Go for it!” he said. ”Whilst university can work for some, for me it was missing the practical aspect of learning in a real-world environment. In the end, you not only get a recognised and respected qualification but have the all-important experience which is highly sought after by employers.”If you believe your business could benefit from an apprentice like Mohammed and you would like to explore apprenticeship opportunities working in partnership with B&FC, please contact our Business Development team today on business@blackpool.ac.uk.
