A B&FC apprentice has been formally presented with a major NHS award recognising her commitment to teamwork and patient care while working at Trinity Hospice.
Helen Dawe received the NHS Health & Social Care Apprenticeship ‘Team Player’ award in a presentation at the hospice after being selected from 350 students across the country back in December.
Helen works as a Healthcare Assistant at their In-patient Unit and is currently working towards becoming a qualified Senior Healthcare Support Worker. She has worked at Trinity Hospice for seven years, supporting patients and colleagues while developing her professional skills through her apprenticeship.

The award recognises Helen’s contribution to teamwork and her support for those around her – and she received the award surrounded by colleagues, volunteers and friends.
Helen said: “I am truly honoured and grateful to receive the Team Player Award. Working at Trinity Hospice is incredibly meaningful to me and being recognised by the NHS makes it even more special. Thank you to my work colleagues, my tutor and my fellow students as we supported each other through our apprenticeship.”
Annie Kerfoot, Vice Principal for Foundational Economy at B&FC, added: “We are thrilled to see Helen recognised for her commitment to teamwork and patient care. Apprenticeships play such an important role in developing skilled professionals in frontline health – and being a champion ‘team Player’ is a quality that seek to inspire in all our apprentices.
“Helen’s achievement reflects both her dedication and the strong partnership between Trinity Hospice, the NHS and B&FC. We congratulate her on this well-deserved award and for the fantastic contribution she continues to make to patient care and her team.”
