B&FC hosted the fourth Project Management Centre of Excellence Conference at its Lancashire Energy HQ in Blackpool.

The conference, A Human Future? – The Role of Society, People and Machines in Projects, featured keynote speakers John Heathcote, a senior lecturer in Project Management at Leeds Beckett University, and Lancashire County Council programme manager Andrew Barrow who led the Preston Bus Station regeneration project.

Second and fourth year project management students were joined by industry executives to learn, engage, and share poster presentations.

John Heathcote spoke about stakeholder management and interest-based negotiation to create successful project outcomes, while Andrew Barrow delivered an interesting overview of the bus station development.

Students hosted lively and engaging panel discussions around project management and its future, referencing the evolution and growing contribution of AI - and the societal impact of projects on communities.

Students Emma Crewe and Oscar Drummer won best conference poster presentation. Their work, and the conference at large, was praised by delegates.
