Blackpool and The Fylde College footballers have achieved a deserved double.

After finishing the season top of the North West Ability Counts League, the squad are now national champions after a tournament win over nine colleges from around the country.

B&FC beat Sandwell College in 1-0 in yesterday’s final at St George’s Park, with Richard Wilkinson scoring the winning goal.

The squad play pan ability football organised by the Association of Colleges. Coaches from Blackpool Football Club’s Community Trust train the team once a week and Rachel Walker, the College’s Sport Maker, said:

“We’ve been working with this group for two years and the difference in them now is amazing. They have come on so much in terms of skills and understanding of the game and demonstrate fantastic teamwork and sportsmanship.

“We are so proud of what they have achieved his season, they really deserve it.”
