Creative B&FC students have built a festive Santa’s grotto at a celebrated Blackpool charity.

Blackpool Carers Centre recently featured on the BBC’s DIY SOS: The Big Build programme, which saw hundreds of volunteers come together to create a dazzling new headquarters for the young people involved with the charity.

A number of College students and staff worked on the project and B&FC joinery and painting and decorating students last week returned to Beaverbrooks House on Newton Drive to complete a festive base for Father Christmas in the centre’s garden.

Ruth Peri, Head of Construction at B&FC, said:

“The DIY SOS programme really highlighted the excellent work the Carers Centre does and the College is keen to continue its long support for the charity.

“Our joinery students had a great time putting the skills they have learnt in College to use on this project.

“It was great to see the finished grotto and hopefully it will let Father Christmas keep warm and dry when he visits the Carers Centre.”
