Film students help out with Fylde festival

This year's Kirkham and Wesham Festival provided invaluable experience for degree students from Blackpool and The Fylde College, who had the task of live video streaming the musical event.

Roxanne Warren, Ryan Forsch, Karl Turner and Benjamin Thornhill, all studying a digital production and film making programme, found themselves working with screen media giants ADI to film the bands and stream the footage live onto a giant screen.

Course tutor Mark Harris said:

“We were involved in all the pre-planning and then the setting-up in adverse weather on the day, so this really was all-round experience of working to a client’s brief.

“The feedback was really positive, too. Kirkham and Wesham Cricket Club told us they were highly impressed with the students’ professional approach and are already looking forward to working with us next year."

The project rounds off a first year full of opportunities for the students – in March Benjamin, Ryan, Jade Parsley and Michael Eaton were commissioned by official Sport Relief sponsor Sainsburys to capture and edit promotional films of a charity football match. The finished edit was displayed in stores nationwide and on Sainsburys social network channels.
