Blackpool and The Fylde College (B&FC) is working with the company which keeps local hospitals running to provide valuable apprenticeships on the Fylde Coast.
Atlas BFW Management is responsible for facilities and property management at hospitals across the area and has worked with B&FC for Business, the commercial arm of the 126-year-old College, to recruit for two key positions within the organisation.
Following a rigorous process, Atlas appointed Charlie Allen as a new apprentice in mechanical engineering and Tom Amos as an apprentice electrician. Charlie, 21, from Blackpool, hopes the opportunity will help him forge a new career for himself in engineering. Tom, 17, also from Blackpool, has always had a passion to pursue a trade and sees this as the perfect opportunity to launch his career as an electrician.
The apprenticeship scheme will be delivered as part of a three-year programme at B&FC’s Bispham Campus and Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Claire Jameson, Director of Business Development at B&FC for Business, said:
“We are delighted for Charlie and Tom that they have been chosen for these high quality apprenticeships with Atlas, which will lead to rewarding and sustainable careers.
“At B&FC for Business, we strongly believe that apprenticeships can offer the best of both worlds for employers and the candidate and hope the apprentices fit in well in their new roles.
“Charlie and Tom went through a rigorous recruitment process which saw them chosen for these highly-sought after positions. We are excited to be working with Atlas to help address their skills requirements and look forward to an ongoing successful relationship.
“Anyone interested in an apprenticeship with a high-quality employer like Atlas, should contact B&FC for Business on 01253 504343 for a discussion with a member of our specialist team.”
Atlas’ business support lead, Patrick McChrystal, added:
“We are delighted to welcome Charlie and Tom to the Atlas team, both are enthusiastic and energetic candidates and we couldn’t be happier for them to join us.
“Our apprenticeship scheme will provide them with the skills set and on the job training that is required to pursue a career with an acute healthcare setting."
