B&FC lecturer Nikki Turner can truly say she had a hair-raising day in college after having 14 inches cut off her tresses for charity.

Her plait is being donated to the Little Princess Trust, where real hair is used to make wigs for children who have lost theirs following cancer treatment.

The deed was done at the College’s Hair and Beauty Project as supportive colleagues looked on.

Nikki said: “I wanted a change and then heard about this great charity. Jessie J donated her hair to them a few years ago and it sounded like something I could do.

“It will take some getting used to as I’ve had long hair for about eight years, but I’m really grateful for all the donations.”

As well as the hair itself, Nikki has also raised £170 for the charity in sponsorship. Anyone who wishes to donate can do so online.
