Technical Diploma in Early Years Educator student Georgina Charlesworth is set for a celebrity childcare career after winning a place at the world-famous Norland College.

A B&FC student is following in the footsteps of royal nannies after being accepted to Bath's prestigious Norland College.

Georgina Charlesworth, who’s studying the Technical Diploma in Early Years Educator at B&FC's Bispham Campus, is the college’s fourth student in five years to successfully apply to the world-famous childcare institution.

'Norland Nannies' regularly make the headlines accompanying their high-profile employers around the world. Graduates include Maria Borrallo, nanny to the children of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Other famous names to hire Norland Nannies include Mick Jagger, Princess Anne, and Sarah Ferguson.

Blackpool's next Norlander told the Gazette: "I decided to become a nanny after a work placement in a nursery, where I loved working with individual children or small groups.

"Researching my future options I discovered Norland College - and knew instantly I wanted to become a Norland Nanny.

"I'm looking forward to all aspects of the course - especially food and nutrition, and sewing, lectures.

"My dream carer is to work with families overseas."

Georgina's B&FC tutor Anna Turner said: "Our Early Years courses give students a great primer on childcare and nannying and clearly our efforts are being recognised by some of the world's most elite colleges.

"It's an honour that Norland College has accepted all our students applying there in recent years."

Georgina, who will be an undergraduate on Norland’s BA (Hons) in Early Years Development and Learning course, paid tribute to her Blackpool education, adding: "I enjoyed my time at Blackpool and The Fylde College and loved my course because all of my tutors helped me achieve my full potential."

Both B&FC and Norland College are holders of TEF Gold, the highest award in the Teaching Excellence Framework. And both colleges are 127 years-old.

B&FC is one of only 15 colleges in the country to next year launch all three T Levels, which include an Education curriculum incorporating childcare.
