Blackpool and The Fylde College (B&FC) has been shortlisted among the leading further education institutions in the country at the prestigious Times Education Supplement FE (Further Education) Awards.
The awards highlight projects where colleges have gone the extra mile to ensure they are providing the best opportunities and routes into employment for young people and adult learners, while ensuring a highly-skilled workforce is available for industry.
B&FC has this year been shortlisted in two categories - support for learners and employer engagement.
The College entered the support for learners category after research showed B&FC is the best in the country for ensuring students from deprived areas have significantly improved opportunities after attending B&FC.
The College’s work with some of the biggest employers in the tourism sector through the Blackpool Tourism Academy was recognised by judges in the employer engagement category. The entry highlighted B&FC’s close connections with industry to produce work-ready employees.
The awards will be presented during a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Friday 24 February 2017.
