Student Case Study - Aneta
Why did you decide to study this qualification?
I originally worked in hospitality but when the pandemic hit, things changed drastically and I saw it as an opportunity to take my career in a whole new direction.
Why did you choose B&FC?
There were several reasons. I was impressed that I could do a degree awarded by Lancaster University here plus it's local which works for me as I have a little one and a husband to think about.
What have been the benefits of studying here?
The Higher Education Learning Mentors (HELMs) have been amazing. They have made such a difference to my learning experience on an almost weekly basis.
What are you hoping to do in the future?
I've been so inspired by my tutors that I've decided that the next step for me is to do a PGCE here and go into teaching after that.
Student Case Study - Yvonne
It's easy to let money worries stop you fulfilling your career ambitions but you might be surprised by how much help is available once you look into it.
Degree student Yvonne certainly was:
"I couldn't believe how much funding and financial support I was able to access. In the end it turned out that I was better off than I had been trying to juggle a part-time job and childcare. If I'd only spent some time researching the financial side of things better, I wouldn't have waited so long to do my degree."
