Course Overview

Level 2 will suit you if you are preparing for or just starting out a career in automotive accident repair. As a mechanical, electrical and trim apprentice you will develop your skills and knowledge in the removal and refit of mechanical and electrical trim components on vehicles. These are often vehicles that require accident repair work to be undertaken. Your workplace could be a garage, body shop, dealership or a maintenance depot.

Entry Requirements

There are no mandatory entry requirements.

Applicants must demonstrate a “can do" attitude and have good basic numeracy and literacy skills.

To be an apprentice you need to be working a minimum of 30 hours per week in the related occupation of your chosen apprenticeship and be at least 16 years old.  Our Skills Coaches and Careers team can support you with this and we often have a good selection of employers looking to recruit an apprentice.

The Intermediate Apprenticeship is 24 months in duration, dependant on previous experience and achievement. The apprenticeship involves you working in a vehicle body accident repair organisation. The course is a mixture of work based evidence collection, online tests and written question and answer papers. All evidence is collected and stored on an e-portfolio to allow you to work at your own pace. You will be assessed in the workplace by your subject specialist Skills Coach. This course is completed in the workplace only and you will be required to complete 20% off the job training during your time on programme.
