Hair Professional (Hairdressing) - Intermediate Apprenticeship
Course Code: WH00022
Next available course:
In the UK, Hair & Beauty is a £4 billion industry employing over 200,000 people, and it’s growing all the time. There are currently over 36,000 salons in the UK, but our students’ skills take them into all sorts of different places including spas, theatre, TV and film.
Working in a salon you will learn job specific skills, earn a wage and attend college once a week to gain your qualification. Working in a service industry, you will meet new people and build up regular clients providing services such as colouring, cutting and styling hair.
All Apprenticeships require an initial assessment, interview and employment in the industry. At Level 2 you’ll need four GCSEs at grade 3 (formerly D) or above including English and maths, or a willingness to work towards whilst on programme.
You will need to have good people, dexterity and communication skills as well as a desire to work professionally with the general public.
Teaching and Learning Methods
You will be taught by tutors who have close links to the industry and the skills to support your training. There will be practical demonstrations, workshops and classroom activities with an opportunity to work on clients. You will explore the underpinning knowledge of how the hair grows and reacts to chemical services. Practical sessions will start in workshops where you will be taught the necessary skills for working on clients in our commercial salon.
