This industry-recognised course provides the skills and experience needed to build a successful career in engineering (operational performance). Over a period of up to three years, you will cover all aspects of engineering operations as well as specialist manufacturing engineering, and areas such as employer rights and responsibility. You will also gain the transferable skills needed to progress within employment and/or to higher-level study. B&FC benefits from strong employer links and expert tutors with lots of industry experience, which provides a highly relevant learning experience aligned to your future career goals.
There are no specific entry requirements for this course, however you should ideally be employed already.
If necessary, our Skills and Business Team can support you in finding a suitable role (we often have a good selection of employers looking to recruit an apprentice).
We will carry out an initial assessment to ensure you have a fair opportunity to demonstrate your ability. We can then tailor your programme of learning accordingly.
Teaching and Learning Methods
We use a variety of teaching methods to allow you to develop high level sector-specific skills. Your practical skills and competency will be supported and assessed by our assessor. The functional skills element of this qualification is delivered by specialist teachers, who will provide support either at the College or in the workplace.
Specialist learning support is also available if required.
You will be required to complete 20% of your learning outside of the workplace through knowledge upskilling, assignments and coaching. One day a week is spent at College working towards the knowledge-based element of your course - the Technical Certificate.
