Finance (Banking) - T Level

Summary

A T level in Finance is the perfect stepping stone for anyone wanting to pursue a rewarding career in the financial industry. What's more, at B&FC we now combine this qualification with a Level 2 AAT accounting qualification, an industry recognised award that can pave the pathway to a career in chartered accountancy.

To set the scene, you will gain an overview of the business environment and an understanding of the different business models companies adopt. You will also discover how economic and political factors shape the financial landscape at any given time before moving on to areas more specifically related to finance.

The course will then introduce you to the world of taxation and the fundamentals of financial accounting, providing you with a firm foundation in the principles of financial business management.

Whilst crunching the numbers is an essential aspect of the financial world, it is also important to gain an appreciation for the professional conduct required within the industry and an awareness of the ethical issues that individuals and organisation can face when making financial decisions

As well as classroom-based learning, a T level offers an extended work placement so that you can gain valuable practical experience to support your chosen career aspirations. At B&FC, thanks to our long established links to over 1,800 employer partners we are exceptionally well placed to find you a meaningful role in an relevant organisation to enrich your learning experience.

How will I be assessed?

  • The core content (year 1) is assessed through an examination and a practical employer-set project
  • The specialism (year 2) is assessed through practical time based project

The overall grade is subject to completion/achievement of all T Level requirements – not just the components of the technical qualification (TQ).
T Level grades are worked out from students’ grades for the technical qualification core and occupational specialisms. For example: to be awarded a Distinction*, you must achieve an A* in the core and a Distinction in the occupational specialism(s).

As well as passing the relevant technical qualification, the following elements are required to achieve an overall T Level grade:

  • Industry placement: This will be arranged and verified by the provider offering the T Level.
  • GCSE grade 9 to 4 or a functional skills level 2 pass in English and maths or other equivalent qualification: This will be verified by the provider offering the T Level.

The T Level certificate will include:

  • An overall pass grade for the T Level, shown as pass, merit or distinction
  • A separate grade for the occupational specialism, shown as pass, merit or distinction
  • A separate grade for the core component, using A* to E
  • Grades for maths and English qualifications
  • Details of the industry placement

Students who do not pass all elements of their T Level will get a T Level statement of achievement which will show the elements they have completed.
