The Young Chefs Academy is for young people aged 13-16 who want to learn about cookery. This course is for anyone with an interest in learning to cook. You may be interested in a future career as a chef or may just enjoy cooking and want to improve your skills.
Our professional chef will teach you the basic skills you need in one of our professional industry equipped kitchens.
The course is delivered on a Wednesday evening 5-7.30pm over 5 weeks. You’ll learn how to prepare and cook a range of different starters, main courses and desserts. At the end of the course you will be presented with a certificate of completion.
The course is Sponsored by the Savoy Educational Trust, Russums and Rowley’s.
No formal entry requirement but you must be aged 13-16 years.
Teaching and Learning Methods
The course is delivered on a Wednesday evening 5-7.30pm over 5 weeks.
The format is informal with demonstrations from our professional chef and a very hands on practical approach.
No independent study is required.

All staff involved in the delivery of further education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
