Course SummaryThis qualification develops the knowledge and skills needed when working with adults in health and social care environments. It covers a wide range of areas including supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care, daily living needs and health care procedures. The apprentice will develop personal attributes and behaviours expected of all care workers, including: Care Compassion Courage Communication Competence Commitment Duration : Between 12 months – 18 Months Entry RequirementsThere are no mandatory . Applicants must demonstrate a “can do" attitude and have good basic numeracy and literacy skills. To be an apprentice you need to be working a minimum of 30 hours per week in the related occupation of your chosen apprenticeship and be at least 16 years old. Our Skills Coaches and Careers team can support you with this and we often have a good selection of employers looking to recruit an apprentice. Qualification ObtainedBA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies Industry Placement and Field TripsStudents should be at least 16 years old and in, or about to commence, employment in a new or changed job role for a minimum of 30 hours per week. Where an employer cannot offer 30 hours per week of employment due to working practices, the duration of the Apprenticeship must be increased relative to the reduction in hours. Learning and Teaching MethodsA variety of teaching methods including, one to one support in the work place. Discussions, reflected accounts and practical coaching will cover the majority of assessments during the course. The employer will support the apprentice with 20% off the job training including shadowing and mentoring different responsibilities within the organisation. Expert Tutors All staff involved in the delivery of any courses within the College are approved to teach and/or assess the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering and/or assessing a given programme are appropriately qualified, with relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice. Assessment MethodsThe apprentice will need to complete: Level 2 Diploma in Care Care Certificate Level 1 Maths and English Collect witness testimonies from their employer A professional discussion as part of their end point assessment A situational judgement task This qualification develops the knowledge and skills needed when Working with adults in health and social care environments Supporting individuals with their Physical needs Emotional care needs, Daily living needs and health care procedures. The apprentice will develop personal attributes and behaviour's expected of all care workers, including: Care Compassion Courage Communication Competence Commitment Other Costs and Equipment NeededThere may be an employer contribution of 10% needed towards the total cost of the apprenticeship.
