Counselling Skills - Level 3

This Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills is for those who seek to progress to a qualified professional counsellor, or gain counselling skills as part of your current profession, for example teachers and nurses.
This qualification may aid progression to accredited counsellor status but is not a license to practice counselling. This course is three hours a week over thirty five weeks.
To do this course, you will need a Level 2 Counselling qualification (having studying a minimum of 90 hours). You will also need to be able to undertake written and oral assessments at level 2.
You must be at least 19 and you must not be in a current state of severe emotional difficulty or severe psychological confusion, nor involved in substance misuse.
You will need to complete an application form and give the names of two references.

To help you learn a range of teaching methods are used including lectures, group discussions, small group activities, simulated client sessions and individual reflection.

All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
