Course Overview

This engaging 20-week programme allows you to explore counselling theories and practices and develop valuable interaction skills for working with others. It provides a nationally-recognised qualification to support career progression for those wanting to work with people and those that already do. It also hones the personal qualities and attributes essential for overall success in working life. It should be noted that the course does not fully qualify you as a counsellor. If this is your career aim we have other more suitable courses available.

Entry Requirements

You don't need any previous counselling training or experience, however you will need to be able to undertake written and oral assessments at level 2. You need to be at least 19 and you must not be in a state of severe emotional difficulty or psychological confusion nor involved in substance misuse.

A combination of group activities and discussions, and tutor-led sessions makes up the learning process, which is delivered in one three-hour session each week. Practice skills sessions also feature, allowing you to develop your counselling skills.
